Confessional Friday {Link Up with A Blonde Ambition}

Happy Friday!

1. I confess that I dress my dog up for holidays.
he loves it

2. I confess that I have a slight pink obsession.
iPad, Graphic Image planner, POP phone, iPhone 5

3. I confess that I spray painted my purse.

4. I confess that I love Elf. Probably one of my Top 5 Favorite Movies.

5. I confess that I am slightly pissed at Yankee Candle.
yeah... a passion for highly expensive candles

They blow up my email with coupons so I went in the store the other day to get 30% off on my total purchase... I found three of their holiday scents were Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off.

I sniffed the scents, checked the prices, and decided on the small tumbler. Long story short... I saw a price of $7.99 and assumed that was the price for the candle... then I get another for 50% off that price... then I get 30% off my total purchase. I got four of them, checked out, and the total was $36.00... should have been around $18.00!

It's either a "blonde moment" on my end or "marketing" on their end, but the price for one candle was $15.99, then 50% off that is $7.99. Needless to say I put two candles back and bought two. Then when I walked out of the store I realized I just paid $9.00 per candle! WTF! I never spend more than $5.00 on a "medium sized" candle. By the time I realized it I was pissed and already halfway through the mall.

Am I the only one that hates "putting something back" when checking out? I feel like the cashier gets offended or something that I think their crap is too expensive. Whatever. I gave Tyson his Christmas Cookie candle and told him to enjoy it because it cost me an arm-and-a-leg!

Happy Holidays!

  1. I hate putting stuff back too and usually suck it up and buy it. One time, when I was in university, I was buying grapes and didn't realize how expensive they were -- they came to $10 for a small bunch! I REALLY savored each one...

  4. I've worked at Yankee Candle for about a year now. But, unfortunately, you are at fault here. With the Best For Less, you buy one candle (small tumblers are $15.99) for full price, and get the other one 50% off. Hence, the BUY ONE GET ONE.
    Usually, we are not allowed to use coupons with in-store promotions, but I assume the store let you use it anyway.

    1. You missed the point here. The point was that the advertising signage on the stand where the candles were sitting said they were $7.99... not "$15.99 and then you get the second one for $7.99". So if someone walks past this shelf of candles and sees a sign that says $7.99, 99 out of 100 people would think that the price of the candle is $7.99.
